Today we would like to tell you a little bit about Christina, the General Manager of Tentamus North America.

1. Please introduce yourself briefly and tell us in which department you work.
I went to the State University of New York at Fredonia, and I graduated in 2009 with my B.S. in Biochemistry. I first was introduced into this industry in 2010, where I fell in love with consumer product quality and safety testing as a microbiology technician. It is a very rewarding industry because we can really save so many lives by ensuring that we are testing each product to the highest level of quality standards to both protect our client’s, as well as their customers. I have always wanted to be a leader in this industry, as I am both equally fascinated by the science behind what we do, and the business of it. I joined Tentamus in 2016 and I am now currently the General Manager of the Fredericksburg, VA location. I oversee the day to day operations, business development, staff, sales, marketing, and client services.
2. How does your daily workday look like?
Client’s first. I come in, check my e-mails, and see how I can help our client’s get any questions answered that they need that day, and focus on fulfilling their requests as quickly as possible. I check in with my staff to see what their needs are for the day, help them create a priority list of items to accomplish, and then get right into it. There is always a different challenge every day, and I look forward to solving each item progressviely. I also do a lot of planning, either for facility management, personnel management, traveling, or anything else that needs structured goals.
3. Can you remember your first week here? How did you find it at your new workplace?
When I first joined Tentamus, I walked into a completely empty lab with nothing but a laptop and a chair. It was the beginning of something very exciting and I was so happy to join a company that trusts it’s leaders to be independent and really shape the laboratory for success.
4. What do you like most about your job?
My team. I owe so much of our success to them, and they are our most important asset. They are my motivation to work harder, enjoy the work environment, and be a better leader every day.
5. What would you tell potential applicants?
At Tentamus, we really put a lot of focus into an individual’s success, You will travel farther, achieve more, and have the freedom to shape your career here based on your interests as a person, and that is unmatched at many other companies.
6. What superpower would make your work more enjoyable?
Being able to speciate pathogens with just my eyes.
